Petersfield Lib Dem Candidates for Petersfield Town Council and East Hampshire District Council

Petersfield Bell Hill

Grant BuddenGRANT BUDDEN - PTC and EHDC

I have lived in Petersfield nearly my entire life, almost 40 years. I was educated at The Petersfield School, before attending College and University. I have worked in local authority benefit investigation for 14 years now, saving the Council Tax payer money. As well as stamping out abuse, we advise and make sure legitimate claims are paid.
I am interested in providing affordable housing for our young people, to save them from leaving the town, but believe any further housing development must be sympathetic to the character of our town and not overburden our town's essential infrastructure. I am concerned with the state of our roads and pavements and Petersfield's problems with casual littering and vandalism. Just while campaigning in Bell Hill I have managed to help get recreational facilities and potholes repaired.

I will work for a safe, fair and prosperous Petersfield.

Petersfield Causeway

Chris MillsCHRIS MILLS - EHDC

Chris is a strong new voice for Causeway and moved to Petersfield 4 years ago and is a geographical Information professional doing digital mapping for a major gas distribution network. He is to marry his fiancée Helen next year.

He takes a keen interest in environmental issues and has welcomed the creation of the South Downs National Park as he feels that this will protect the character of the town and the countryside around by preventing overdevelopment on unsuitable sites.

He opposes the Tory cuts to the voluntary sector particularly the Citizens Advice Bureau and also opposes Hampshire County Council's consultation on cutting sure start centres.

Chris says "I am proud to be the Liberal Democrat candidate for Causeway and intend to continue the good work of the retiring District Councillor Anne Claxton."

George WatkinsonGEORGE WATKINSON - PTC

I served in the Royal navy for 40 years followed by the civil service before retiring and am married with two children and 2 grand children.

I Moved to Petersfield in 1979 and have played an active part in Petersfield life being involved in local organisations, including being a governor at Petersfield Infant School for 14 years and a trustee of the open air swimming pool.

I have been a very active town councillor now for 16 years, including as chairman of the finance, halls and planning committees as well as the honour of being Mayor twice.

I am keen that the council achieves the best possible outcomes for the residents of Petersfield, always bearing in mind the cost to council tax payers. It is important, that we have Petersfield as a successful market town for its residents, visitors and to take an active part in the South Downs National Park, which I am keen to support.

Petersfield Heath

Mary VincentMARY VINCENT - PTC (Elected unopposed)

Mary has lived and worked in Petersfield all her life and the family business in which she worked has been established in Petersfield for almost 80 years. She has been an active member of Petersfield in Bloom for some time and is currently Chair of that committee, improving the appearance of our town.

Mary has been on the Town Council for 16 years and her depth of local knowledge of the area and its many business activities has proved invaluable in chairing the Grounds, Halls and Planning committees, she has also been Town Mayor.
Without doubt Mary has the interests of Petersfield at heart and is, and will remain, very active in achieving the best results for all the residents.

Petersfield Rother

Chris MillsCHRIS MILLS - PTC

Chris moved to Petersfield 4 years ago and is a geographical information professional doing digital mapping for a major gas distribution network. He is to marry his fiancée Helen next year.

He take a keen interest in environmental issues and has welcomeed the creation of the South Downs National Park as he feels that this will protect the character of the town and the countryside around by preventing overdevelopment on unsuitable sites.

Liss

Roger MullengerROGER MULLENGER - EHDC

I have lived in the Liss and Petersfield area for 30 years and am experienced in business, as a school parent governor and an active parish councillor.

I Have good knowledge of the problems that many residents face, gained through my 12 years as a Liss Parish Councillor and the experience of my wife while working and volunteering in a local advice organisation.

Local volunteering groups provide a tremendous amount of effort in supporting the community and these will be high on my list of priorities.

I believe that environmental issues are important for our future generations, and am a voluntary nature reserve warden. It is very important that we make the most of the South Downs National Park to invigorate Liss while protecting our surroundings.

Liberal Democrats have an excellent record of working hard for local communities. I will be active on issues important to Liss and its residents.
