Maureen Comber - Selborne
Maureen has lived in the Selborne area for 40 years. She is a well known champion of countryside, farming issues and a defender of our rural heritage. Maureen became District Councillor for Selborne beating the Lib Dems by a single vote. Following her shameful treatment at the hands of the Conservatives, Maureen has joined the Liberal Democrats where she's been warmly welcomed.
Maureen says
"It's a great privilege to stand-up for Selborne, Blackmoor, Oakhanger, Kingley and Worldham.
Over 4 years I've officially travelled 28.317 miles attending some 360 meetings. I have made many friends and following recent unpleasant events, have been overwhelmed by kind messages of support.
I am thrilled the Lib Dems have given me the opportunity to stand again. I will fight to protect our farms, our countryside and our rural way of life. We live in a beautiful place and we must keep it that way."
Tony Gray - Grayshott
Liberal Democrat Tony Gray says
"Grayshott needs a councillor who will listen and stand-up for the village.
The Hindhead Tunnel has a real impact on Grayshott but where is the Government support.
I am disgusted at the Tory cuts of 20% to the CAB at a time when they are needed most, and 20% cut to our community groups. The failure of Tory run EHDC's rural bus service, plans to sell flats to students and ludicrous project X - ie plans to market their own spring water have turned EHDC into a laughing stock. With capital receipts and interest at an all time low, it 's no surprise Tories have left a review of council charges until after the election. Lib Dems supported Zero % council tax at EHDC but if it wasn't for the Coalition's generous settlement this would not be possible. Vote Liberal Democrat for Fairness."
Mark Davison - Bentley and Binsted
Mark Davison worked for many years in defence and IT and enjoys all the countryside has to offer
He opposed bungled Tory plans to sell off our Forests like Alice Holt. Lib Dems campaigned for a long distance footpath but are concerned it may turn into the "Shipwrecks Way" as a route of the over protected landscapes could damage wildlife opening-up the area to disturbance and illegal motorbikes.
Mark says "Bentley and Binsted needs someone who is prepared to stand up for our area rather than just follow the Tory party whip on Bordon Ecotown. Their plans for too many houses will have a major traffic impact on the surrounding villages, not forgetting the route of the railway which runs through Bentley. Lib Dems want an Ecotown that is scaled down and tailor made to local needs and we are campaigning for a Referendum. Our villages must be listened to.
Brian Desmond - Lindford
Brian Desmond believes Lindford should retain its independence from Bordon Ecotown and not lose its identity through urban sprawl. Lindford has never been balloted on whether it wants to be part of the Ecotown yet finds itself in its policy zone. Sadly, all Tory district councilors (including Lindford's) voted in favour of the Ecotown Plan despite local concerns over thousands of houses and unfinished critical studies.
Brian supported Adam Carew's campaign to fight the axing of our rail link bus and was appalled when the Tory EHDC cynically axed the replacement a year after the elections.
Brian Desmond says
"Lindford needs a district councillor who has gravitas, who takes no-nonsense and will really stand-up for our area. I thank our Lib Dem County Councillor Adam Carew for the new Village 30mph speed limit and applaud his hard-work in getting proposed traffic calming on the Liphook Rd."
