Whitehill Town Council and EHDC Elections
Whitehill, Walldown
Adam Carew - Town and District
Adam Carew is Mayor of Whitehill. He's lived here for 40 years and was recently engaged to his fiancé Jennie. He was elected by Walldown residents to become the youngest councillor at EHDC and is our County Councillor. He set-up the Mayor's Charity which raised £4000 for our local Children's Centre. Adam has fought long and hard for our town. He led campaigns versus housing on Walldown Traingle, against the axing of our rail link bus, and to get Whitehill into the National Park. He cut speed limits on Hollywater, Liphook and Walldown Roads. Adam launched our town's Green Vision and sits on the Ecotown Delivery Board. The Army's decision to stay or go is imminent. We need Adam more-than-ever to ensure our voice is heard. Adam says "Lib Dems want a fair deal for Whitehill-Bordon, to get shops and facilities we need whilst protecting our countryside and green spaces.
Tony Gray - Town
Councillor Tony Gray is deputy Mayor of Whitehill and vice-chair of the town council. He lives in Whitehill with his wife and two sons and has worked closely with Adam Carew as councillor for Whitehill Walldown. Tony is a manager of leading high street retailer and first moved here 20 years ago with his wife and 2 sons. His interests include outdoor pursuits , fishing and history. Tony sits on the Deadwater Valley Trust committee and is also concerned about the state of Whitehill Village Hall. Tony says "20 years ago we were told that a sports centre, a hotel, a cinema and bowling alley would be built. I am standing again to ensure that happens so our town gets the facilities, shops and infrastructure we deserve whilst protecting our wonderful countryside and green spaces. Lib Dems don't want Whitehill to just be a dumping ground for thousands of houses.
Brian Desmond - Town
Brian Desmond (43) moved to Whitehill 7 years ago and lives in Walldown ward.
He has extensive experience as a manager for a large multinational company.
Brian has a critical eye for detail and takes a no nonsense approach to making sure the job gets done to the highest possible standards.
Brian wants a fair deal for Whitehill. A new green town with proper facilities and public transport. He wants to protect our green spaces and keep the countryside feel of our town. He will oppose Tory plans to swamp our area with housing, traffic and Tory run Hampshire County Council's plans to turn our town into a giant sand quarry.
Brian says "I am proud to stand on a Liberal Democrat ticket with our hard working Mayor Adam Carew and Deputy Mayor Tony Gray. Whitehill deserves the best. Our aim is to ensure we get it."
Whitehill, Chase
Zoya Faddy - Town and District
For the last 28 years Zoya Faddy has successfully campaigned for the people of Whitehill and Bordon on many issues: making Whitehill Crossroads safer; saving The Phoenix Arts centre from closure; kick starting the 8 year campaign for Tesco; campaigning with the Liberal Democrats for the Mill Chase swimmingpool, fighting the closure of the Chase Hospital and much more. Criticised by the Tories at EHDC she forced them to reveal the Army's plans to leave Bordon which threatened our whole economy and could have resulted in wall-to-wall housing with few additional facilities. She led the campaign to get a masterplan drawn up and to get a multi-level steering group be set up to oversee it. Zoya says " I am regarded as a thorn in the side of the authorities but actions speak louder than words and I will never give up until our town gets the facilities we need."
Andy Tree - Town
"I am passionate about Whitehill-Bordon. I spent my whole married life in this area and chose to bring-up my family here. My 3 year-old starts school in Bordon this year. Both my sons will rely on the town as they grow-up
As a business leader dedicated to creating prosperity in Whitehill and Bordon, I have put my money where my mouth is and relocated my company HQ to Bordon. In just 4 years I built them from nothing to over a million pounds turnover through hard-work, dedication and being focused. Now I want to give something back.
I campaigned with Adam Carew to save Bordon - Liphook rail-link bus. We have the worst public transport in Hampshire thanks to Tory cuts, we should have the best.
I want prosperity here and the right for us to live in the town we deserve. I will fight for a fair deal for Bordon."
Sally Pond - Town
Sally Pond has lived here for 40 years and aims to follow in her mother's footsteps as a local councillor for Whitehill and Bordon. Sally was educated at Weyford and Eggars before going on to Farnborough Tech. She worked in Paris, Turin and London before returning here to settle. Sally's daughter Sarah is at Portsmouth University and her grandson Callum is 21 months.
Sally is campaigning for more childrens' play areas and opportunities for young people. Sally is concerned our Chase Hospital is still under used. She is opposed to housing on Viking Park and unhappy about Tory cuts to the CAB, buses and Childrens Centres.
Sally said "I joined the Liberal Democrats as I see just how much Adam Carew has done for our community. This is the party that really stands up for our area and I'm proud to be chosen to stand here in Chase Ward."
Whitehill, Hogmoor
Philip Drury - Town and District
Philip Drury has campaigned hard for Whitehill Hogmoor since the sad death of Lib Dem Dr Michael Watkinson. He chairs the town's Transport, Infrastructure and Education group and is campaigning to bring the Railway back to Bordon.
Philip fought Tory plans for an Ecotown Relief Road down Firgrove and Hogmoor Roads. He voted for the Woodlark Pub and opposes housing on Viking Park, (where our cinema and bowling alley are supposed to go).
Working with County Councillor Adam Carew, Philip got crossings put in Firgrove Rd and cut 60mph speed limits along Hogmoor and by St Matthews School.
Philip campaigned to get grit bins put in at Hogmoor and set up the Flytip Forum with Adam Carew to combat this menace.
Philip says "This is a critical time for our town. The Army move decision is soon and I am fighting to get the best deal possible for our residents."
Gina Hopkins - Town
Gina Hopkins (41) has lived in Whitehill - Bordon for 12 years and has 3 sons at local schools. Gina lives in Whitehill's very first Eco friendly house and has been able to provide important advice about the advantages and pitfalls of living in ecohome to the Ecotown's Housing group.
Gina says "I feel passionate about our area especially the lack of amenities and facilities in our Town. We must get the housing right too and protect areas like the Hogmoor Inclosure. A lot of negativity is spoken about Whitehill and Bordon but we live in lovely area and we must keep it that way. Everyone knows Lib Dems work hard for our area and I am proud to stand up for Hogmoor. I want people to feel positive about living here I'm a good listener and communicator and am determined to put the views of local residents first.
Paul Wigman - Town
Cllr Paul Wigman has lived here for 32 years and is a Quality Auditor for a large Telecommunications company. He is married 33 years to wife Eileen and has three children.
Paul knows our town has grown massively in 30 years but our shops and facilities have not grown at the same rate. Thanks to Tory bus cuts we now have the worst public transport in Hampshire.
Our town's Masterplan has barely changed in 2 years because Tory run EHDC has refused to listen to local people. They have even imposed their own councillor on us from Alton.
Paul says
"Its a great privilege to be a councillor for Hogmoor. I am campaigning to get the facilities we need whilst protecting our green spaces around BOSC, the Croft and Hogmoor Inclosure. Tories at EHDC must not be allowed to dictate to us. This is our town our future."
Whitehill, Deadwater
Tony Muldoon - Town and District
Tony Muldoon has lived in Whitehill Bordon 32 years with his wife Christine . He has 2 daughters and three lovely granddaughters. He has worked closely with the CAB and sits on the Whitehill Bordon Community Association management committee which runs the Forest Community Centre.
Tony says "I am very concerned about the future of our town. Lib Dems want a "fair deal" for Bordon. We need more facilities, more jobs and more opportunities for young people. Housing problems and Anti Social behaviour are still huge issues in Deadwater Ward and I am calling for urgent action on fly tipping and litter. We must have pride in our town. "

He regularly attends Eco-town meetings where he champions the need for more and better facilities and the importance of infrastructure and green spaces versus too many houses.
Mark stands up for Deadwater residents and has taken action on issues from anti-social behaviour, Tory cuts to roads safety, to Hampshire Tories plans to turn our town into a giant sandpit.

Tom cut his teeth standing up for residents versus over-development of Bordon Working Mens Club . He wants more facilities for young people and is a volunteer Ranger at Queen Elizabeth Country Park,
Tom says "I love Bordon . 10 minutes in any direction and you are in superb countryside, whilst virtually centred between Guildford, Basingstoke and Portsmouth. The Ecotown has great potential but local views must be listened to. I will campaign hard with my Lib Dem colleagues to get the shops, businesses, infrastructure, and leisure facilities we need whilst protecting our green spaces."

Chris Wherrell will be a strong voice for Whitehill Pinewood.

Chris is passionate about preserving our green spaces such as Bordon and Hogmoor Inclosures and will campaign to save BOSC and the Phoenix Arts Centre if the army go.
Chris says
"I have fresh outlook and tons of enthusiasm. I will make sure that our local voice is heard".
Jaci Eastwood - Town
Councillor Jaci Eastwood has stood-up for the residents of Pinewood for the last 6 years on Whitehill Town Council. She's an active supporter of the Phoenix Centre and together with Chris Wherrel and Malcolm Douglas is campaigning for a multi-sports centre, as well a state-of-the-art play area for Pinewood. She is totally opposed to housing on Viking Park (behind the Woodlark) as this is where leisure facilities such as our bowling alley and cinema are supposed to go. She actively supports the new allotments behind Saville Crescent which she hopes will be very popular.
Jaci Eastwood says "I am all for the ecotown if it will get us the facilities we need but local people and their elected councillors must be listened to. We must protect our green spaces around BOSC. Pinewood deserves a fantastic new play area and Lib Dems are determined to get it.

Councillor Malcolm Douglas was elected as a new councillor to Pinewood last year securing 70% of the vote over a former Mayor. He has lived in Bordon for over 10 years and is married with 4 children.

Malcolm knocked on almost every door in the Pinewood byelection and has continued to stay in touch with local residents championing issues such as the towns lack of public transport, lack of play areas in Pinewood and lack things for young people to do. He has supported the Mayors charity for Chase Childrens centre and opposed Tory cuts to the CAB.
